Oh, well, a little snooze couldn't do any harm. ff it at 1: sa :M an an Heavens! XX'l1at's this? Here I am out in the middle of No Man's Land. Oh, here comes a car. It looks like an ambulance. Good night! Look who's driving it-Harriet Benton herself! Hey, Hattie! Slow down! With a screeching of brakes the ambulance came to a stop. No time for greetings! she gasped. Hop into the back and hold his hand! Obeying orders, I scrambled into the back, wondering who he was. Well, there lay Walter Frankland, almgpt unconscious. but barely audible sounds were coming from his lips. Psst, Harold, let me see your third pro em. Then amid a grinding of gears we bucked off. I cringed as she shifted into second and, with a noise louder than the retort of Big Bertha, jerked into high, and off she went. At the hospital fshe nearly threw us out when she stoppedj, we were met by two attendants who turned out to be none other than NX'alter Underwood and Kenneth Wfooten. After getting our patient settled and writing letters to his family, Harriet and I left the hospital. Come on, she said, let's drop over to Lawrance Dunne's and Charles Hargrove's place. As we uwlfed on fthank heavenj, I said, How in the world did you happen to come over here, Hattie ? X5Uell, she said, that's a very touchy subject, but truthfully it was that horrible old binominal theorem. Here YNY 2II'U nllw. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the place was a cafe called Larry's and Charlie's Guzzling Galley. The floor show was going in full swing, and Louella Wills, Olamaie Bryant-Cundiff, Evelyn Hassell, Kath- erine Bond, Celeste Tarhet, Tucky Johnston, Marguerite Lifsey, Emily Sharp, Sara Anne Lankford, and Eloise McCaIlen were at their best. Next came the specialty number of Martha Crook and Carol Armstrong-Oooh! XXflio'da thought it? I seemed to notice something familiar about a man in the corner, Harriet, upon seeing me looking at him, said: Dont you relnemher him? l lC'S Harold Yarhro, Who used to be in our class at school. He's lost his mind now. Let's go give him a penny, and he'll reCite the only thing that is left of his long stored up knowledge. He received our pennies, and without any signs of recognition, he began: A flea and a Fly in a flue, Wfere imprisoned, now what could they do? Said the Hy, 'Let us fleef 'Let us fly,' said the flea. And they flew through a Haw in the Hue. We were sadly nodding our heads and saying, Tsk, tsk, when suddenly someone yelled, Bombs! Darkness descended upon us and we bounded toward the door. I was shoved and beaten upon-BEATEN UPON-BIEATEN UPON, Wake up, wake up! I looked up, bewildered-So Myra Evelyn was here, too. Wake up! It's your time to recite! I looked sleepily around me. Yes, there they wereg all the class was iust as it used to be. Hul1? I answered. Oh, sure, I must have dozecl off a minute. 'S pm 28 PATRICIA PRITCHARD.
