ggg, JUNIO CLASS GFFICERS .IOHN PAUL MORRIS ELIZABETH EUBANKS ANNE RUSSELL Prelidenl l ire-Preiident Serrelury ECI-IOES FROM THE JUNIORS Hi-ho! Here it is graduation time again! We hate to see our Senior brothers and sisters de- part, but think of the fun we'll have when they're gone. We'll be the Big Shots, then! But let's not cross our bridges before we come to them. Let's go back to reminiscence in the dim dark cor- ners of the past. Let me clear the cobwebs from my mind. Do you remember when first we embarked on the shores of High School? Goodness, but we were young and afraid then and looked fearfully into the future. But soon the Seniors began to recognize us, and everything went well. We were really sensational as Sophomores. In fact, we have always been quite a sensation. We have in our midst two great actresses, who walked away with important roles in the junior-Senior play this year. What kind of roles? you ask. Well, they were lunatics, but of course everyone nows that it takes dramatic ability to play that type. So we take off our hats to june McAnally and Virginia Nell Guy. june also had the honor of being elected cheer leader for the season of '40 fand there was some other girl, too, but I can't recall her name at the momentj. Robert McKnight, our great French student, came in fourth in the French tournament. We are very proud of this fact. We predict that he will graduate first in the class of '4l. Speaking of students, William Earl Brewer is Einstein's successor. In Chemistry laboratory, whenever a test-tube is broken, or a bottle of acid is spilt, you may be sure to find him lurking nearby. They say that in spring a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of love. flf his fancy has been turning like the weather this spring, the young man should be dizzy by now.j The young man in this case is Fred Budde, and his fancy has lightly turned to thoughts of Anne. fOf course, it turned long ago, but this is the first chance I've had to tell you about it.j Not so very long ago, jackson was swept by a great Wind. This same Wind swept into the spotlight a girl in the junior Class. She was known by the name of Scarlett O'Hara for such a long time that it is a wonder she didn't forget that her real name was jane. Always close beside her was Byron Rhett Burruss-and quite out of keeping with the real Rhett's character. He is a member of the junior Class. Seen forever winding up the watch of his wit is Barton Currie. And as the quotation goes- by and by it will strike -so go his witty sayings ffor after he has struck three times-you're outj. The junior Class owes a debt of gratitude to its officers who have guided our ship safely to the port of another school year. We wish to thank them for their interest and for the good work they have done and the fine examples they have set for us. And now to the Seniors-we must confess a spirit of envy, only, next year we'll be in your places, saying, with Emerson: The port well worth the cruise is near, And every wave is charmed. --GERTRUDE STEGALL. .hh Pulte 2 1
