This year the yearbook staff wishes to rec- ognize a person who has accomplished much in a short period of time and has made the students feel that she is deserving of this honor. Putting together a yearbook is no easy task for staff members or sponsors. Mrs. Sue Hartman sponsored the Silver Arrow for three years and she put in more time and work than any sponsor should. Mrs. Hartman also introduced a new club and lan- guage into the school. You may find her Spanish Club members breaking pinatas at Christmas or feasting at a traditional Mexican meal. Besides sponsoring Spanish Club she also finds time for Quill and Scroll. Through her Mass Media class, Mrs. Hartman communicates with the students on their own level. This is an untraditional class that crea- tes new and different experiences such as: evaluat- ing television, visiting radio stations, and produc- ing movies. Mrs. Hartman also plays many other roles. Besides her active life at school, she is a mother to her ei- ght month old daughter, Kimberly, wife to David, seamstress, decorator for her home, and a friend to faculty and neighbors. We wish to honor this teacher who has proven that one can accomplish much in a short period of time, therefore, we dedicate this, the 1977 Silver Arrow, to Mrs. Sue Hartman, a friend and teacher. Student Council had a new look this year. The old jackets were discarded and new red sweaters appeared around school. The Student Council started out the year by buying a new copy mach ine for the library as a project continued from last year. The group sponsored many activities such as film festivals, a Christmas assembly in which the members acted out two skits, twirp week, and several dances. The council con- tinued to provide soda and candy at the BB and wrestling matches. They participated in the Student Council Convention at Poplar Bluff and a Student Council Exchange with Ste. For the first time there were two stage choirs: the Senior Stage Choir and junior Stage Choir. The Mixed Cho- rus entertained the IHS student body with a Thanks- giving and Christmas concert. They presented a Pop Concert with lots of popular numbers. For Christmas, they also held a presentation on the Messiah. A musical was presented in the spring. The IHS Mixed Chorus worked hard this year with the help and gui- dance of Mrs. Kirk, but they also had a lot of fun. . MIXED CHORUS OFFICERS ROW 1: D. There were many willing helpers when the year began but as the year progressed and the pressure in- creased, the number of willing helpers decreased. A long snow vcation also slowed the progress. Since the staff was small, the co-editors-in-chief put their ta- lents to work. Missy became one of the yearbook photographers. Sally put her rusty typing to work. The Junior Varsity completed the season without a loss and the Varsity recorded an overall re- cord of 14-3. Kelly built the only roadblock toward an undefeated regular season for the Varsity downing the Indians both times they met. Their other loss came in post-season play. Coach Daphine Seabaugh provided the leadership for the team along with Co- Captains Becky Bollinger and Pam McKenzie. The tribe won the Regional title by downing Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, and finally Cape Central in the title game 41-28. The Regional championship earned them the right to move on to sub-state play. The girls are looking forward to the return of many underclassmen for a successful season next year after the loss of six Seniors in Jan Allen, Becky Bollinger, Jane Finley, Celeste Marler, Pam McKenzie, and Debra Schuette. Si is now living with a Vietnamese family in jackson. Si likes it in America, but the hard- est adjustment for him was le arning to speak English. He plans to live in Jackson until he finishes High School. His future plans are to maybe attend SEMO. With his parents still living in South Vietnam, he hopes to return someday to visit his parents and family, but does not plan to stay. Si also commented on that he likes America much better because he got to move away from the Communists. If you buy a car there, it does not be- long to you, it belongs to the Govern- ment. Si's activities range from being employed to riding his motorcycle. 135 ?-1,Q5' fF' 155 , -en - v 'W s Lisa Oldham David Popp V523 if 5 a 3 fx Chris Partridge Janice Pfeiffer Joel Philipps Cindy Phillips Bobbie Poole Renne Price Keith Proctor Billy Propst Bill Puchbauer Danny Rees .Z Vg' R I Q., ,, I f ' 2 ff' 'P M2541 1 -K 7 .
