Its school system has been assisted by the enter- tainment and guidance for all the children of all the people. That such an influence can produce the finest of citizens is evident in the record set by those who have gone before us. Pictured here are several phases of summer fun offered through our fine park and service club sponsored activities. the citizens of the R-2 school district for support in all undertakings. They have not been disappointed. These students take advantage of the excellent recreational facilities offered. Behind Its School In All Endeavors Pictured here are a few of the many examples of patronage for which we, the staff of the 1961 Silver Arrow, express gratitude for the entire student body. In deep appreciation, we dedicate this yearbook to the community and the patrons of the R-2 school district. Among our memories will be those of sitting on the court house lawn listening to Muny Band, and the huge bonfires and pep rallies which were attended and sup- ported by patrons. Boy Scout camp-outs and church-sponsored fun, such as hay-rides, help fill busy days. 5 We thank you for making our school and our community . . . a good place in which to grow up. Several opportunities for public speaking are offered ambitious students by local clubs. This is only one facet of their continuing support. -. f Ybloqsxrlt Whether it's Home Comers or a carnival at school, the townspeople turn out in large numbers to support local projects. . t pQ.s . The identity of our new S.B.P., Ronnie Henderson, was revealed to the students in an announcement to the students during the sixth hour. Student Government Day was held April 22, P.T.A. Camival Day. Morning classes were shortened for the installation of city officials, and aftemoon classes for the Carnival parade. Here Ronnie Henderson, this year's Student Body President, addresses the students over the P.A. system. This is only one of the many and varied jobs that de- mand Ronnie 's time. Led by All-Conference fullback Joe Buerlke, who formed the bulwark of the ln- dian backfield, the Indians were rated as the Number 3 team in Southeast Missouri which was a fitting honor for their fine effort. Although dropping from first to fourth in the conference, it must be taken into consideration that The Big Eight was much stronger than in the past and fielded five championship caliber teams. The Indians fell in line behind the three teams which defeated them, Kennett, Sikeston, and Charleston, in that order, with a 4-3 conference mark. The 1960 Jackson Indians football team was unquestionably one of the finest teams ever fielded by this school. They never gave up and were always ready to overcome the greatest hurdles.
