TUBE 'l' UIIUNCIL For the first txme 1n several years the student body has formally asslsted rn governxng Jackson Hxgh School The faculty chose four members from each class as candidates for electron to the Student Councxl Each class voted for two of the four candrdates submxtted to them The members chosen were Adelle Illers and Bryce March Sen1ors Aletha Grant and Roland Stnckert Jumors Elden Selves and Jackme Morton, Sophomores, Edlth Seabaugh and Bllly Tucker, Freshmen On October 4th they had the1r first meetmg at wluch trme omcers were elected Adelle Illers was elected presxdent Aletha Grant vrce presrdent Jackie Morton secretary and Elden Selves treasurer On October 5th, a oomm1ttee com posed of Bryce March Elden Selves, and Jackre Morton was named to draw up the constxtutxon and by laws for the Councxl On November the fourth the Con stxtutxonal banquet was held and all members accepted xt by thexr sxgnatures proJe-cts It was responslble for the selectlon and makmg of a J H S flag for the Faculty Take OE assembly the 'Dhanksgrvmg and Chrlstmas Assembhes and for a number of pep assembhes It also sponsored two dances--one after the Charleston football game and one Leap Year Dance Durmg the last part of November the councll was responsrble for the begm mng of the Ja..kson Rlecreatmnal project by makmg and conductmg a question axre rn the schools and factorres and by appomtxng members of the student body to represent the school on the recreatlon counczl Another successful project was Student Government Day held on Apnl twelfth We apprecxate the many actrvxtxes of value and mterest and the hard work that th1s group has done durxng the year During the year this organization sponsored many useful and worthwhile ,, , . .
