.., Our School System ,,-.,-.,-- The present Jackson Public School System was founded in 1906. The State Department of Education, in its annual inspection since 1906, has placed Jackson High School on the list of approved first class high schools. The High School building was erected in 1920 at a cost of biS125,000 and in 1928, at a cost of 545,000 a gymn- asium and extra classrooms were added. In 1039 a stadium, which will seat 2000 people, and an elementary school, which is one of the finest in the state, was erected. The grade school building has an auditorium, having a seating capacity for 614 persons, modern in every respect, equipped with border lights, foot lights, movie projector, public address system, and scenery. Jackson High School is considered to be one of the best equipped and operated schools in Southeast Mis- souri. lt belongs to the highest accrediting agency of high schools and colleges in the North Central States. The value of the buildings, grounds and equipment is conservatively estimated at S325,000. Page Two e
