Music Department Music is the key which opens the door to the past, the present, and the future. Through rhythm and tone man has worshipped his God, has expressed his feelings toward his loved ones, has re- vealed strong patriotism for his country. Music is appreciated by all people, from the noblest queen to the poorest slum child. The objectives of the Music Department at Jackson Memorial High School are to entertain, to act as a stimulus for those seeking further education in music and to enrich the lives of its members. MR. Science Department For the first time at Jackson, five courses of science have been offered to anyone wishing to further his education in that field. General Science, which is the exploration into the many phases of the scientific field, is the only science which is required at Jackson. In Biology, one studies living organisms from the most microscopic to the largest. For those interested in nursing and medicine, Biology serves as a foundation. Chemistry, the study of the composition and properties of sub- stances, helps a student to appreciate the role of chemicals in every- day life. . The study of Physics deals with the properties, changes, and inter- actions of matter and energy. This subject also deals with physical and mathematical measurements. Physiology, a new course offered at Jackson this year, deals with the functions and vital processes of living organisms or their parts and 6raans. MR. CECIL A.
