Coacheol by George Bender the 1962 Wrestling team fought hard but finished last in the 6-A. ln spite of their lowly rating the matmen claimed some titles. Heavy- weight, Don Shelton claimed the re- gional tournament heavyweight cham- pionship, Al Potts claimed titles in the regional and State Meets at 145 lbs., and Dave Bibbins was the runner-up at ll2 lbs. in the state meet. Coach Bender cited Don Shelton, Al Potts, Dave Bibbins., lim Fowler, and Herman lackson as outstanding mem- bers of this years team. All in all, the hopes for next year's team look good as there were 18 soph- omores on the team this year.

How- ever a team does not depend on one man, and Iackson had the others. Bob Bond had a new time of 55.1 tor a new varsity record in the individual medley. Bob Forbes also set a new varsity freestyle record of 42255. Captain Lynn Vermeulen, freestyler, Back-strolcer Woody Crutchfield, Freestyler Bob Botstord, and Dave Haehnle, Diver Dick Parrish, and Tony Hurst, brest-stroker, were cited by Mr. Cooley as outstanding members of this years team. The backstrokes fight hard to get ahead of the op- posing team. Swimmers stand on the starting blocks before they get ready tor the take off.
