5 Q' Twenty-five years ago Student Government was organized at Jackson High School by Dr. R. Emens, who was then assistant principal. From that time on, a governing group of students has grown to be one of the most important phases of school life at JHS. From each homeroom a student is elected to Student Representative Assembly for one semes- ter. Once a week and sometimes more frequently, the Assembly meets to discuss and decide issues that effect the whole school. From the Student Body a President and Vice President are elected who preside over Student Representative and Student Council meetings. Student Government undertakes or participates in many projects which are scheduled throughout the school year. The first this year was the Booster Parade whose success was notably greater than in previous years. Twice a year the Student Body is called upon to support the Reflector Bi-Weekly with semester subscriptions, and it is the Representatives of Student Government who are the salesmen. Again, it is the Student Reps who are the bookkeepers for each homeroom during the magazine cam- paign, and who do the collecting for Viking Giv- ing during the Hrst semester. For thirteen years Mr. Dressel has advised and greatly promoted Student Government. :SEK .1 -s ' I, if wifi I
