Town- ley. l-IARDCGURT HERQES lackson High School's basketball team be- gan the season slowly but picked up speed and beat Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Wyan- dotte to capture the Class A regional title at Yost Field House in Ann Arbor. One of the most outstanding games oi the season was the upset, 63-42, drubbing handed to the highly rated Kalamazoo team. Perhaps even more important was the victory over Ann Arbor in an exciting overtime game since this assured Iackson of a tie tor third place in the Five A League. Even though the team lost to Dearborn Fordson in the quarter finals We know that the combination oi team play, together with the spirit to win, changed a discouraging beginning into a great late sea- son rush. Our hats are oft to Mr. Ogden and the entire squad who gave everything they had to make this victorious ending possible. The reserve basketball squad has a long- time Winning tradition at lackson High School and this year was no exception. Win- ning ten and losing five, the Little Vikings ran up the highest score in history by beat- ing Bay City Handy 75 to 30. Defeating Ypsi- lanti 55 to 26, Dick l-linkle furnished 20 of the Iackson points and therefore tied lack Mayo for scoring honor with ll9 points. The team, made up of seven juniors and tour sopho- mores, are looking forward to the coming year and another winning season.
