Longrunning Show Many Miles To Go. So many miles to go. So much more ground to cover. Long-distance running; one of the most grueling, physically draining and arduous sports represented at JHS. Success took a lot of endurance, determination, and dedication from the cross country team this year. Coach Glen Gillespie trained, worked, and in- structed the team through nine rigorous meets. Running, running, and more running. Getting Great Reviews Members of the JHS Flag Corps participate in a pep parade. The Flag Corps practices diligently at a hot rehearsal. r Precision plays a part Playing the parts of the JHS Field Commanders demanded a combination of confidence, dedication, concentration, and patience. Juniors Kathy Schwab and Shawna Peoples were the ones chosen to convey all of the above to the fans during the football season. Being in control at all times, they used their unique styles to advantage. Precise moves and total poise added an air of sophistication to the entire band. Rehearsing for perfection PracticeI Practice! Practice! But in the cases of the majorettes and flags, practice did make perfect. During summer camp, they received several 1st places and three superior ribbons each. Also, so as not to break tradition, the Flag Corps again received a National Trophy. The two groups also had their share of hot practice sessions during the summer. Making up routines and perfecting them with the hope of getting an early lunch or much-needed break. 26 Act I Majorettes, Flags, Field Comm.
