Apple Festival: An Unchanging Community Tradition Some things never change. Oh, some minor variations, maybe, but never anything overwhelming. One of these Jackson things”is the annual Apple Festival. During the third week of September, the merchants and townspeople give up the downtown streets and sidewalks to merrymakers who transform the town into the annual celebration of the fall harvest of apples.At that time, apples are king. Around town, JHS students emptied their pockets for fun, cotton candy, elephant ears, french fries, and candy apples. You saw others riding rides, playing games, and just walking, talking and observing the scenery. The Senior Booth (under direction of Mr. Jim Reynolds) attracted attention, as many flocked to see what decorations the Seniors had thought of and displayed in their traditional money-making booth.
