First Day Aug. 28, 1984 It wasn’t just any hot, hazy, summer day. The J.H.S. parking lot and school grounds were rapidly filling with people. Some had never been there, others were old hands at this. Suddenly, buses pulled up adding more people to the clamoring crowd. Some were searching for old friends, others were telling about their vacation. As the crowd continued to swell, a bell rang and the group began to crowd into the building. No doubt about it, August 28th was the beginning of a new dimension — the first day of school. Pg. 4:1. Barbie Britton and Peggy Kidd check out the senior lockers. 2. Students board the bus after school. 3. The parking lot filled rapidly the first day of school. Pg. 5: 1. As the school year begins, so do new classes. With a clean slate students begin to study everything from algebra to zoology. New classes mean different teachers, saving seats for friends, meeting new people, and finding room in your locker for yet another book. It also means endless hours of studying, taking tests, writing speeches and reports, doing class projects, and wondering if it will ever end.
