Practice, Practice, And More Practice! Shortly after school begins, so does a new dimension — practices. While some are practicing football, track, tennis, volleyball, and cheerleading, others are attending band, chorus, Hi-Q and play rehearsals. No matter what the team, many long hours are spent perfecting the skill. Many times it means not going home until late, missing out on other school events, rushing to complete school assignments, or giving up Saturdays. But everyone who attends these practices agrees it is worth it. 10 Opening

J.H.S. Has Spirit! A very important dimension in any school is spirit. The most obvious forms are playing sports, cheering for the athletic teams, wearing red and white, going to pep rallies, and singing the school fight song. However, spirit can be found with those who work in the booths at the ballgames, line the ballfield, take care of the athletic equipment, sell programs at the games, or work in the school offices. So, if you ever think there is no spirit, look beyond the obvious, you might be surprised at what you find. Pg. 12: 1. The varsity football team rips through the spirit banner at a pep rally. 2. J.H.S. students cheer for their team. 3. The Cheerleaders get even with the football players during the assembly. Pg. 13: The team cheers as football players Brad McCorkle and Rod Miller prepare to throw the stuffed tiger into the fire. 2. Several team members pose for our camera. 3. Todd Mossman and Chris Moyer work in the Hi-Y booth at the football game. 4. Don Bolen and Philip Hughes clean the Hi-Y booth. 5. The cheerleaders display their spirit banner. 6. Jeff Coffey and John Lewis line the field before the game. 12 Opening
