But after their second impressive victory. Jackson beat highly touted Portsmouth West. 14-6. The defense held the Senators motionless while the Big Red scoring machine chalked up the points. Roger Cantor preserved the game when he blocked a desperation field goal at the end of the game. The Ironmen gridders completed a fifth unpredicated winning season as they stomped the Athens Bulldogs 25-14. The Jackson pack finished with a shiny 7-3 record and landed on the all-SEOAL team; John Price. Paul Sites. Jon Clay. Joey Wyant. George Humphreys. Mark Haynes. There were two players named to honorable mention all-SEOAL: Roger Cantor and Frank Edgington. The coaches for the “83” Ironmen were: Head Coach Jim Reynolds and his corps of assistants Bill Yeager.
