Jr.-Sr. Banquet Jr. Class President (left), Daphne Underwood, gave the greeting. Milo Rose (right) gave the Senior response thanking those involved and wishing the Jrs. luck. On April 25, 1980, members of the Jr. and Sr. Class of J.H.S. gathered together in the High School Cafeteria for the annual Jr. Sr. Banquet. Members of both classes are excused from school that day, with parents permission, to prepare for the evening. The annual happening began at 6:30 p.m. and is presented to the Sr. Class by the Jr. Class. Valeria Watts gave the invocation and dinner was served by the Jr. Mothers. Daphne Underwood gave the greeting, and Colleen Bentley followed with the dedication. Milo Rose then gave the response. Musical entertainment was provided by Zephyr and Lori Congrove sang the class song. As the program ended, students left with a few added memories and began to prepare for yet another important event — THE PROM Jr.-Sr. Banquet 29

High-Q: Outstanding Finish In December, Jackson H.S. was invited to participate in WOWK-TV's High-Q. A team of five members was selected on the basis of scholastic average and standardized test scores. Coaches and team members spent hours studying and preparing for these contests. The competition began in January. Jackson defeated five teams to capture the regional championship. June 12-14, J.H.S. team and coaches traveled to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the national competition with four other teams from various areas of the country. They were: 1. Bishop Watterson — Columbus, 2. Pleasure Ridge Park — Louisville, 3. Jackson High School — Jackson, 4. St. Paul, Minnesota, 5. Buffalo, N.Y. J.H.S. defeated the team from St. Paul, Minnesota to capture third place. Top right: 'Gee! I didn't expect this, was Ralph Wood's reaction upon receiving his plaque from the JCEA. Jr.-Sr. Prom The highpoint of the year — the Junior-Senior Prom sponsored by the Junior Class Members was held following the Banquet. The JHS auditorium was decorated for the formal dance in the Senior colors pink and burgundy and followed the theme “If You Remember Me which was the Senior Class Song. Co-chairpersons for the Prom were Mike Davis and Missy McCorkle, Junior Class Advisor was Mrs. Sandy Smith. The music for the event was provided by Spider Webb and the Pied Piper Super Disco Machine from Huntington. The dance was well-attended and the good times will be recalled in many memories. 30 Jr.-Sr. Prom
