Vety Good, Eddie The spring musical for 1980 was a success, being a madcap comedy with romance. It was titled Very Good, Eddie” with Robert Naugle playing the part of Eddie. The set is in a honeymoon resort in the Catskills during the early 1900's. Two pairs of newlyweds get separated and end up with each other’s spouse. Other lead roles were — Bonita Elkins as Elsie Darling, Carl Eisnaugle as Dick Rivers, and Lori Congrove as Elsie Lily. Director was Kent Washam assisted by Barbara Wilson. Student directors were Chuck Meadows, Angie Fouty, and Bryn Payne. Top left: Love is in the air while Carl Eisnaugle and Lori Congrove sing who leheartedly. Healthy, Wealthy Dumb The Healthy, Wealthy and Dumb” by James Reach was selected as the fall play this year for J.H.S. The ten character play was presented on November 16 and 17 under the direction of Kent Washam, and was a huge success. The play appealed to every age bracket, young and old. Carl Eisanaugle portrayed the lead as Neil Whitmore, a college professor who’s a bit eccentric, but had a likeable personality. Roberta Phillips, who was also a college professor, but with no sense of humor was portrayed by Bonita Elkins. The play featured other strange and odd characters, among them — Brian Wallace as Dudley Kent, Jim Brown as Sam Anderson, Bryan Wood as Gramps, Angie Fouty as Jane Jackson, Valeria Watts as Kathy Ford, Brenda Pauley as Ronica Bragg, Greg Swann as Tony Lewis and Nancy Douthett as Susan Drake. High-Q: Outstanding Finish In December, Jackson H.S. was invited to participate in WOWK-TV's High-Q. A team of five members was selected on the basis of scholastic average and standardized test scores. Coaches and team members spent hours studying and preparing for these contests. The competition began in January. Jackson defeated five teams to capture the regional championship. June 12-14, J.H.S. team and coaches traveled to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the national competition with four other teams from various areas of the country. They were: 1. Bishop Watterson — Columbus, 2. Pleasure Ridge Park — Louisville, 3. Jackson High School — Jackson, 4. St. Paul, Minnesota, 5. Buffalo, N.Y. J.H.S. defeated the team from St. Paul, Minnesota to capture third place. Top right: 'Gee! I didn't expect this, was Ralph Wood's reaction upon receiving his plaque from the JCEA.
