Mistletoe “Winter Wonderland was the theme for this year’s annual Mistletoe Ball, sponsored by The Skeleton. It was held on Dec. 15 from 8-11 p.m. in the auditorium which was decorated with various snowflakes and snowmen. As the mirror ball revolved above the floor, people danced to the music which was provided by our own J.H.S. DJ Scot Cook. As the night grew on, a surprise visitor from the North Pole arrived with a sack full of candy canes. In that familiar red suit, Santa Claus went around to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Far top: Lisa Phipps, Mary Bowling, and Eugenia Sharp take a break and listen to the music. Top: With a big smile on his face. Gene Waldron dances with his date, Marla Britt. Sadie Hawkins This year’s annual Sadie Hawkins was a big success as students dressed up for an evening of fun and excitement. People were dressed as farmers, hillbillies, women (when they were actually men), square dancers, and even toga party persons. As everyone danced to the music provided by Rick Bowman, Sheriff Rice arrested people either for too much public affection or not enough. While, across the auditorium, Mr. Issacs waited at the hitchin’ post to marry off couples. With the help of Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y, this yearly happening will always be remembered by many. Top left: Tourists Kit Fleming and Paul Gleaves enjoy the sites of Sadie Hawkins, '80. Middle left: Lit'l Abner Chuck Reis-inger, is shown with his court — Tim Creamens, Matt Cool, and Stan Stepp. Middle right: Graffiti covered the walls of this year’s annual “Hoe-down, Hick-town’’ dance. Bottom left: Farmers Colleen Bentley and Brian Dixon enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Bottom middle: Preacher Issacs explains the marriage vows to Pat Lancaster and Michelle Tomblin. Bottom right: Bonita Elkins, Angie Fouty, and Kit Fleming, seem to be asking Sheriff Rice to protect them from something. Sadie Hawkins 21
