The football game that normally precedes the dance was cancelled due to the Meigs teacher strike. In the auditorium decorated in black and silver, the queen and court were announced and escorted by their fathers to the stage. Student Council President Bruce Neal, and Senior Council member Kevin Barnett presented the Homecoming Queen Robin Moore her crown and roses. Queen Robin, Senior attendants Sharon Dearing and Sharon Ragland, Junior attendants Jami Cox and Marti Mallock, Sophomore attendant Kim Leach and Freshman attendant Sandy Langley danced the first dance of the evening with their fathers. D.J. Jack O’Shea from WKEE Radio station provided the music. The Student Council sponsors the dance annually. The queen and court are nominated and voted upon in grades 9-12. The lovely members of the court and their fathers await presentation of the Queen. L. to R . Sharon Dearing, Jami Cox, Sandy Langley. 18 Homecoming

After Game Dance: Football As the Jackson Ironmen Football team became more and more victorious, the after game dances became a bigger thing at JHS. It was a time to let your spirit show by dancing to the beat. The students are entertained by a D.J. who plays all the latest hits. Often a dance contest is held for anyone who wants to get in on the action, while the remaining crowd becomes the judge. Prizes are then awarded to the dance winners. Various groups sponsor these after game dances, which follow the home games; and they are attended by JHS students only. Top left: The crowd watches intensely from the sides of the dance floor, while enjoying the Pepsi. Middle: As the music grows slower, the couples become closer. Right: As the night goes on, Teresa Perry is still going strong. Middle left: A few seniors take time out during a dance. Right: Juniors get into the swing of things during a contest. Bottom left: Showing their stuff during a contest is Kim Waugh and Shellie White. Right: Dancing to the beat are a few Junior boys. Donee: Footboll 17
