The Harp is Symbolic of the Welsh Ancestry of the Area and the Eistedfod (Annual Welsh Song Festival). The Crossed Pick and Shovel is Emblematic of the Coal Mining Industry the Molten Metal Cauldron Refers to the Blast Furnaces in the Area.
