Varsity Cheerleaders 68-69 The Varsity Cheerleaders are a group of dedicated junior and senior girls who work hard all summer until April or May of the following year. Varsity and reserve cheerleaders are chosen in the spring of each year in order for them to organize and begin practices early in the summer. During the summer, they can attend camps where they receive professional help in cheering and can win ribbons and trophies. They also can begin summer projects to earn money, paint signs, collect ads, and, if necessary, get new uniforms. The purpose of the cheerleaders is to try and rally the enthusiasm of crowds and create spirit all over. Some of the jobs include collecting ads for football and basketball programs, organizing pep assemblies, making pictures for the frames, painting signs, and decorating for banquets. In order to try out, girls must be juniors or seniors and maintain a C average. Reserves include freshmen and sophomores. Top to Bottom: Mrs. MacFarlane, Advisor; Nancy Essex, Alternate; Mary Jane Vititoe, Manager.
