Baseball Team 68-69 The 1969 Baseball Team of Jackson High School finished in second place in the S.E.O.L. league with a 5--2 record. The overall record was 10--5. The success of the team this year was due to the great coaches and players. Head coach of the team is Dick Haller, and assisting him were George Abraham, and Tom Perry. The Jackson Ironmen had twenty-one players on the team consisting of six seniors, four juniors, and eleven sophomores. The team average was .248 which is very good for a high school baseball team. The Ironmen were lead by the Co-Captains Phil Coburn and Roger Cosby. The seniors on the team were Bill Harris, short-stop; Roger Cosby, catcher; Bob Thorson, due to injuries played different positions; Cliff Smith, Outfield and pitcher; Phil Coburn, pitcher; and Jerry Mapes, Second base. At the annual Spring Sports Banquet the following boys were awarded: Best Hitter, Jerry Mapes; Best Pitcher, Phil Coburn; Most Valuable Player, Roger Cosby; and Team Co-Captains, Roger Cosby and Phil Coburn.
