Oun The student body of J.H.S. may well feel fortunate in having as our principal, Melbra Thornton. He is truly a leader for all of us who surely need to be led. After having graduated from Cadmus High school in Gallia County, he further prepared himself for his life's profession by attending Rio Grande College from which he received his A.B. degree in. 1927. Later he attended Ohio State University where in 1933 he received his M.A. degree. At the end of this school term, he will have completed 18 years at Jackson High School, during which time he has endeared himself to his countless students as well as to the parents with whom he has come in contact. He is an active member of our community, always upholding all of its worthy projects and is at present the President of the Jackson County Tuberculosis Association. Being very appreciative of nature and outdoor life, he enjoys gardening as his chief hobby. Naturally, this fine man is a spiritual man, and we find him a loyal member of the Methodist Church. His understanding personality and his interest in the student as an individual have been of great value in shaping the lives of many.
