We, of the 1950 Osky Wow Staff, take great pleasure in dedicating this hook to the members of the 1950 graduating class. Many people would say that this class is no different from any other class that has graduated from Jackson High School. In many respects, that is true: however, we feel that this class is the beginning of a new era. We are graduating in the middle of the century--a century that has been filled with progress. The student of today is the diplomat. scientist, doctor, and pioneer of tomorrow and whether his training is good or bad will determine whether or not the world will survive. We like our J.H.S. home and feel secure here. Through the portals of our school walk the finest people in the world. The bells of the building have rung in and rung out scores of boys and girls like us. We feel we owe a debt of gratitude to all those who contribute in making a school like this for us. In return, we hope our school will be a better one because of us who have crowded the halls of J.H.S. these few years. It's been wonderful, all of it-football and bas- ketball games, Girl Reserves and Hi-Y meetings. pep rallies, all-school dances. class plays - oh everything that makes a school year fun! We're sorry we have to leave but you can't stop time. We've made friends, had fun, played jokes, and learned our lessons but now we are graduating and leaving our school days behind us. We hope that the future classes of Jackson High School will hold high the standards which this year's graduat- ing class has set up. It is with these standards in mind that the Osky Wow Staff dedicates this year- book to the graduating class of l950.

TQATION Mr. Thornton 1 Mr. Keairns One of the first persons you meet as you enter the high school is our very devoted and capable principal, Mr. Melbra Thornton. With sixteen years of service and achievement behind him, Mr. Thorn- ton can be justly proud of his outstanding record. Before receiving the position of principal, he served several years as a government teacher and a history teacher in our high school. His quiet and under- standing personality has endeared him to the fac- ulty and student body. One of the next persons you are sure to meet before you have gone very far is our most willing and capable assistant principal, Mr. E. S, Keairns. In addition to being assistant principal, Mr. Keairns teaches chemistry, physics and mathematics. Be- sides these duties, he is the advisor of the Osky Wow staff. It is realized that without his assistance and energy our book might not be published each year. We are fortunate to have such a friend and teacher on our staff. T' Carol johnson Annu Nail Of course you couldn't leave the building without meeting Anna Nail, secretary to Mr. Daugh- erty: and Carol Johnson, secretary to Mr. Thornton. We can never realize how much work they have to do. Writing absence slips, typing. filing, making out schedules and answering many questions from inquisitive students. They are known to all of the students for their kindness and helpfulness in an- swering questions and solving problems. These girls have much work to do in the summer as well as in the winter. It is hard to realize how they can do all their work so efficiently and we are sincerely grateful for all the tedious tasks they do for us. 1 s rn' if
