In our school, this government takes form in the Student Council. This organization, composed ct' one representative from each home room, has done an excellent job this year in bringing about different reforms, and also an increase in the students' inter- est in the school. This organization, under the supervision of Mel- bra Thornton, has just completed a, successful year in the service of our school. S0 it is with pride, then, that we look to this group as able representatives of Jackson High School. MR. THORNTON, Principal As you enter the high school, one of the first persons you meet is our very capable principal, Mr. Thornton. Mr. Thornton ac- cepted the position of principal five years ago and has served as the students' guiding hand since that time. Before he received the position of prin- cipal, he served several years as a govern- ment teacher and a history teacher in our high school. He has been well liked by every- one who has had the pleasure of making his acquaintance. He is always willing to aid students who stop at the office for his as- sistance. He is gifted in ironing out one's troubles in a short time and making one feel as if one had accomplished it himself. To the students, Mr. Thornton is truly the guiding hand of their lives. MR. KEAIRNS-Assist. Principal Mr. Keairns, our assistant principal, teaches chemistry, physics and mathematics. Besides these duties, he is advisor of the Osky-Wow staff. Mr. Keairns obtained his Bachelor of Sci- ence degree in chemistry as well as his Mas- ter of Arts degree in school administration from Ohio University. We are fortunate to have such a wonder- ful teacher on our staff whom everyone knows as a true friend. Pdqe SBVBII
