On Thanksgiving Day these Girl Reserves contributed greatly to the success of the eagerly anticipated football game with Wellston by selling the football programs. junior Girl Reserves The Junior Girl Reserves, of which there were thirty-nine members, were also very active this year. With the assistance of their leader, Miss Fisher, they carried on many interesting activities during the months of school. Az each meeting they used as their theme one of the allied nations, this served as a basis for their discussion. The officers for this Girl Reserve Club were as follows: president, Tabitha Robbins, vice-president, Barbara Crabtree, secretary, Norma White, treasurer, Ruth Henry. OUR BAND Mr Cllfts first year as director of the ack son High School Band proved him to be n excellent director He had many new ideas for the bands marching in formation and at each football game on our own field he had the band prepared for a new stunt during the intermission between the halves of the game The band it self is also very laudable for its diligent prac ticing for the activities The band supplied music and entertainment at many of the football games Ar the basket ball games also, it had a prominent part in the evening At all the pep assemblies preceding both football and basketball games the band inspired us with pep and helped a great deal to build up our enthusiasm in anticipation of an exciting evening In February the band sponsored an assembly program on which selections beautiful com ical and interesting were played The composl tions on the program were the following Ma rines March, Chenette Pavanne Gould Afrikander Olivoloti, We Must Be Vigilant There s Something About a Soldier Gay Host of Freedom King and Pivot Man Bennett The band observed both Armistice Day :Ind Memorial Day by playing at the Municipal Building and by marching to the cemetery After both the football and basketball seasons were over Mr Clift formed a dance band of ten pieces This too, proved successful, providing music for many parties The concert by the band was given in May This was another very entertaining event of our school We are proud of our band and grateful for its contribution toward making our school more commendable -I - High Steppm Maidens They lead the parade the girls who are our Swiss Flag Swingers These brightly atrired young ladies are 1 great asset to our band with their peppy steps and gaily flying flags The girls from left to right are Doris Jones Helen Mur phy -I oan ne Hambrick Anna Florence Nliller Wil ma Evans and Doris Smith Page Szvly on 0 . , , . . This club was organized in order to create in- terest in athletic activities, to promote physical efficiency, scholarship, and good fellowship among all girls. ln the games that were played the girls did most of the refereeing, timing, and scoring. S. girls were represented at the intramural games throughout the year. In speeclball, there were four teams: in softball, fourg and in basketball, twelve teams. This is the first year that junior high school girls have participated in intramural basketball games. A total of 50 girls took interest in this activ- ity, which is an unusually large num- ber for this kind of sport. In the top picture are the girls who participated in speeclball games. The second picture is of the girls who took part in the softball games. In the third picture are all the senior high girls who participated in intramural basketball games. The bottom picture s h o w s t h e uyounger set --the girls of junior high who played basketball.
