During the past years. our different athletic teams rarely attained the goal of victory. Still, neither the students nor the athletes were willing to give up. As our defeats mounted year after year the townspeople looked down their noses at our dear alma mater which was trying so hard to distinguish itself. Finally, under the able coaching of Mr. Danilovich our football team began to win a few games. Some of the business men in ackson started to take an interest in what was happening in Jackson High. The visible reward of success the trophies which we so proudly display in our trophy case in the hall is ample proof that we have succeeded in climbing to the top of the ladder of athletic success. No one can deny that the fellas and girls of our school can take a defeat smiling or that they keep on plugging despite a loss. How ever there are many who have the mis- guided conception that now when our athletic and scholastic abilities have shown such improvement that Jackson is recognized as a worthy adversary in all the sports departments and an equal in scholastic stinding the students and athletes are losing control of their senses and irc going victory cruy Here it ackson the students h we always been taught to be the best of sports win lose or draw Now that they are winning they are still taught just that So in the future no matter how the Tiger teams come out in their games the world at large can be certain that better sports than those found in jackson can not be located X X ,B On. Under the tutelage of Coach Buckley and Mr. Lefever the B and C teams are shaping up splendidlyg and when the A team gets organized it is expected to be one of the finest track squads ever turned out at jackson High. Among the returned veterans are Galloway, Day, Vukovich, and Oneto of the varsityg Sucich, Bird, and Gamba on the B string. Several freshmen comprise the nucleus of what is hoped will be a championship C team. Outstanding among these are: .lake Valenzuela, Jerry Decker, Ray Gamba, and johnny Leonetti, junior. Up to now these teams have had only one practice meet. This was with Linden. At this time the A and B teams lost by small margins, while the C team won. ln the A, Galloway made 20 points with Gamba outstanding in the jake Valenzuela took four firsts in the C division for twenty points.
