CNov. 231 The next game, played in the environments of a mud turtle found Jackson passing her way to a 13-0 victory over the Lincoln Reserves. 1Nov. 303 Turkey Day proved to be a memorable occasion for a scrappy Havelock eleven, but the local per- formers had to be content by ending the season with a 0-0 tie, which might have been more disastrous for the Red and White. By amassing 147 points to oppo- nents 13, the Jackson High eleven showed the offensive and defensive strength, which made her one of the outstanding teams of the 1934 season. This season has also completed the high school football careers of six regulars. CSept. 281 Opening the schedule on the Wesleyan Held the Jacksonites gave the public their Hrst impression of a future state leader by downing the Wymore agregation 20-0. COct. 123 With more confidence, the big Red eleven opposed College View and emerged with a 21-0 victory over the '33 G. L. L. champions. QOct. 269 The Crimson's next foe, a steadily improving Bethany clan, found it difficult to cope with the Red and White's strength, and succumbed by a score of 7-0, the Jackson gridders being barely able to keep their goal- line uncrossed. CNov. 25 Facing one of the strong- est teams in the state, Jackson man- aged to push seven points across the Crete goal-line, but being subjected to the same treatment herself, found the game in a 7-7 tie at the final whistle. BASKETBALL . if Good' basketball is tradition 'at-1216124 ,son igh Schgcjfiwhenl the call for try for the 1935 season, from all appearances, it seemed that this year's team would not live up to past performances. However, Coach Ralph Beechner, with but two lettermen and promising reserve material, hopefully started out the season, and under his watchful eye the team soon developed into one of the greatest Jackson teams ever to don the Red and White. The '35 Jackson high basketball quin- tet Hnished a whirlwind season by be- ing one of the three teams invited to the Nebraska State Tournament. They opened the season with a holi- day victory on December 21st, de- feating Havelock 38-17, and although still a little inexperienced, managed to outpoint Columbus 19-12, January 11. On the following Saturday, the 12th and ensuing week-end, the 18th, Jack- son advanced toward the Greater Lin- coln League championship by nosing out Bethany 24 to 21, and subduing College View 30-17. On Saturday, January 19, one of the future state leaders, gained outstate recognition by doubling the score on York. Crete proved to be the next victim 17-11 on January 25, and the next evening the Lincoln Reserves suffered a 48-10 defeat. After their first month of basketball, Jackson pulled into full swing by a decisive victory over Teachers College 31-8 on the first day of the month.
