J . FLOWER GF VENEZIA . THE FLOWER OF VENEZIA By Dundas and Hansen The light opera, The Flower of Venezia, was successfully given April 5 and 6 under the direction of Marjorie M. Miller. The delightful melodies told the story of the beautiful Fioretta and her sailor lover, nephew of the Duke di Bomba. Her father, because of financial obligations wished her to marry the Duke. But through the plots of the family assassins, she was saved, and the Duke married her sister instead. Principals in the cast were: James Anderson, Evelyn Brown, Grace Payne, Neil Davis, Harry Pit- caithley, George Grassmueck, Pauline Bowan, Helen Fitch, Pauline Rasmussen, Gertrude Clifton, Walter Harrold, Stanley Bimson, Jean Wolf, Dick Ryan, Jardin Thompson, and Ralph Currier. THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS By Harry Delf The Family Upstairs was given by the Dramatics Department on December 7. It is a comedy of middle-class American life in which the love of a young stenographer and her first boy friend reaches its rightful climax in spite of a mother's meddling. Those in the cast were: Virginia Clemans, Edmund Steeves, Neil Davis, Florence Bridges, Bayard Taylor, Grace Payne, Dorothy Knight and Velora Roberts. BELIEVE ME XANTIPPE By Fred Bullard The amusing four-act farce was admirably presented by the seniors on May 25. McFarland wagers 8,330,000 with two friends that he can commit a crime and elude the authorities for a year. His habit of exelaiming Believe me Xantippen in unthinking moments, led to his capture by a sheriff's daughter, but in the end he won the bet and the daughter. The cast included: Neil Davis, Edmund Steeves, Stanley Bimson, Gordon Elrod, Oren Brown, Ember Emery, Leland McAllister, Thelma Rhoades, Dorothy Taylor and Frances Spencer. . BELIEVE ME XANTIPPE . CSept. 281 Opening the schedule on the Wesleyan Held the Jacksonites gave the public their Hrst impression of a future state leader by downing the Wymore agregation 20-0. COct. 123 With more confidence, the big Red eleven opposed College View and emerged with a 21-0 victory over the '33 G. L. L. champions. QOct. 269 The Crimson's next foe, a steadily improving Bethany clan, found it difficult to cope with the Red and White's strength, and succumbed by a score of 7-0, the Jackson gridders being barely able to keep their goal- line uncrossed. CNov. 25 Facing one of the strong- est teams in the state, Jackson man- aged to push seven points across the Crete goal-line, but being subjected to the same treatment herself, found the game in a 7-7 tie at the final whistle.
