During this time it has made forty-seven public appearances, given four operettas, competed in four state music con- tests, produced nineteen winning vocal solo- ists for the district music contest, four girls small groups that have rated either super- ior or excellent , four boys quartets and two mixed octets. Any girl in the senior high may belong to Girl Reserves. High lights of the calendar were, the in- formal and formal initiations, heart sister Week and the spring banquet at which the new officers were announced. The city-Wide suppers, a date dance and a joint HI-Y, G. R. Conference, sponsored by the Inter-Club coun- cil were also interesting events on the Girl Reserve calendar. The future of the Jackson High Orchestra is bright, because over fifty per cent of its members this year are junior high students The orchestra has performed as the between- act entertainment at plays, operettas and con- vocations, under the direction of Miss Miller. Second semester a band was organized under the able direction of Mr. Welch. It is a nucleus from which should develop a much needed pep instigator.
