The cam- paign was succcessful, due, no doubt, to the work of the staff. Having completed the first semester in excellent style, the class of '35 proceeded to elect its officers for the last semester. They re-elected Ed. Steeves, president, Ruth -Ruyle, secretary, Jean Carter, treas- urer, and Mildred Japs, social chairman. The only new officer was James Anderson, vice-president. Dale Seligman was elected president of the Student Council and Dorothy Taylor, vice-president. Six seniors also held positions on the second semester Hi-Life staff. A penny carnival in the gymnasium was the sec- ond semester's social function. A The Flower of Venezia was selected as the operetta to be given this year, and among the cast were included six seniors. They were James An- derson, Grace Payne, Pauline Bowen, yeil avis, Walter Harrold, and Stanley Bimson. J Believe Me, Xantippe was chosen. The cast con- sisted of ten seniors. They were Thelma Rhoades, Dorothy Taylor, Neil Davis, Stanley Bimson, Ed Steeves, Oren Brown, Gordon Elrod, Ember Emery, Leland McAllister, and Frances Spencer. At the State Music Contest held May 3 and 4, three seniors placed, Frances Spencer, Robert Gates, and. Jim Anderson. 7 The senior girls won recognition throughout the school when they took the inter-class basketball cham- pionship by defeating the sophomores. Dorothy Taylor was chosen Queen of Health at the annual May Fete, with Mildred Japs as her Maid of Honorg Grace Payne and Martha Vogel, her atgendantsg and Frances Beach and Ruth Ruyle, her- a s. The G. L. L. track title was bestowed upon Jack- son,' May 17. There were only three seniors, Neil Davis, Dale Seligman, and Leon Huston, on the team, but they did their share in winning the honor.
