PAPA HBE xv' IV JACKSCN COLLEGE 3 450 LACKNUWLEDGEMENTS WE ARE INDEED grateful to the staff of the Ka Papa Hee Nalu, who working under pressing cir- cumstances and very limited time, have produced an annual which we believe you will enjoy. t Our sincere thanks also go out to many who assisted in the preparation of this annual: to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yee, photographers who helped in many ways to get the pictures ready for this book, to Dr. and Mrs. Louie Barrett and Tom Lonergan who helped in many ways with counsel and much needed assistance, to Darlene janzen who designed the attractive cover, and to a Christian friend, James Diedo, who did the art work for the divider pages. We trust that it will be a much enjoyed remem- brance of many pleasant hours of study, work, play, and rich Christian experiences during your past school year. 2 'DEDI CA TIO VERNON M. BLYTHE H , Christian-Friend-Trustee-Fellow-Worker There are many other titles we could also use, but the title Trustee implies implicit faith. Faith in God, in fellow man and in the future of jackson College-all this and more has been manifested by Vernon M. Blythe. May .y God continue to bless him in his work for humanity and jackson College. 3 n 1 1 4 I CONT N TS MEET JACKSON COLLEGE . . 5 ADMINISTRATION . YYXAMJ IT WAS Dryden that said: Truth is the foundation of all knowledge and the cement of societies. It was Jesus that said: Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Here at Jackson College, we seek to give the truth to those who are without the light of the love of Christ that they might in turn pass on the torch of eternal life. God grant that we shall ever be true to Him and His teachings. May this message be uppermost in the hearts of this year's graduation class as they go forth to serve God and fellowman. 7 LOUIE M. After Pearl Harbor the need for another college became more and more apparent. jackson College was organized and chartered by the Territorial government April, l9-48 as the second college of arts and sciences in these islands. The program of the college aims for a balanced develop- ment of the three-fold purpose of each student, first, by instruction for and improvement of study programs for the intellectual growth into useful citizens, second, by recognizing spiritual needs and presenting for acceptance the beauties and eflicacy of the Christian way of life, third, by encouraging athletics for body tone, physical coordination, corrective gymnastics, wholesome sportsmanship and college spirit. ll .. nu JOYCE KODAMA Office Siaff uuffi ANN SPIVEY Office Stuff CAROL ANN DOKE Office Siaff PAcu1:l'v MELVIN ANDERSON NELLIE BREECE GEORGE BREECE 'I4 LOUIE M.
