After his return from the February victory in Cuba, Jackie was pre- sented to JC-M students during a pep assembly, Senior Jackie Beard has gained recognition for himself, his school, and his community through his achievements in the sport of boxing. His hard work and dedication to his goal have enabled him to develop the skill to perform successfully at all levels ot competition. He has consistently scored victo- ries in local, area, national and international matches. He has traveled extensively both in the United States and abroad and has appeared on national television both as a competitor and as a featured athlete. A highlight of Jackie's young career came when he was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall ot Fame as the Co-Amateur Athlete of the Year for 1978-79. Despite the demands made upon him by his sport, Jackie has maintained his academic standing and has participated in JC-M's wrestling program. Constant determi- nation and tremendous effort have indeed proved rewarding tor Jackie, one ot JC-Ms most outstanding personalities ever.
