TRACK As the days grew warmer, A the JC-M Track teams could be found more and more often outside on the track and in the streets seeking to build up their strength and stamina. Again this year, opposing tough competition, the runners held their own. Coach Jim Carmichael, provided the leadership and guidance K necessary to build a good team. Returnees Jerry Johnson and Vicki Burton again showed outstanding promise for another successful season. CROSS CUUNTRY Completing their fourth season at JC-M, the Cross Country teams once again met stiff opposition from this area. Even though the teams had lost competitive runners, they gained some new members who worked hard to become a powerful unit capable of performing successfully. Under the direction of Coach Don Newman, the highly experienced tennis teams looked to be one ot the most powerful in years. State-ranked junior Fran Spencer, once again captured the no. 1 position on the girls' team. Other standouts on the girls' team were Missy Davis and Anne Benton. Senior captain Franklin Murchison led the strong boys' team. Co-captain Bernard Black and Holland 6 Henton also did well in competition.
