FOOTBALL Early in August the JC-M gridiron Cougars began their vigorous preparation for a season that could take them to the state playoffs. They could see that the road would be a rocky one after their loss to arch-rival Brownsville. However, after that game the Cougars came alive again, winning the next seven games and were still in the running for a play-off bid. At the end of regular season play, the Cougars were tied for the playoffs, but lost the bid to Henry County whom they had defeated earlier.
