YOUTH IN GOVERN- MENT Youth in Government was designed to increase student knowledge of the mechanics of state govern- ment. A part of the group activities involved writing and debating legislative bills. Members again attended the Youth Legisla- ture in Nashville: there bills were presented and debated, and students cam- paigned for various posi- tions in state government. 160 X Activities PEP CLUB Feeling That Cougar Spirit In an effort to increase student participation and school spirit in athletic events, a dedicated group of students formed the JC-M Pep Club this year. Club members could be easily spotted at football and bas- ketball games as they appeared in their Pep Club tee-shirts. Seated together in special sections, members supported the cheerleaders and cheered the teams to victory. Club sponsor was Mrs. Claudia Freiman: club president was Nora Free- man.
