OUR BASKETBALL TEAM Our team which consists mostly of Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores began their basketball training while they were in the 7th and 8th grades. Mr. Love, their coach, taught them many of the fundamentals of basketball. After they entered high school they received their training under Coach Hannah. In 1945-46, the seniors, who were then Freshmen, qualified and began playing on our second team. These Seniors were L. Lee, B. Beavans, F. Barker, and B. Myers. The next year B. Beavans and L. Lee began playing as regulars on the varsity team and continued throughout school. In this same year, Freshmen, N. Schweikhardt, B. Grove, B. Couch, and W. Penrod also played on the varsity team. 1947-48 found the varsity team consisting of all Sopho- mores and Juniors namely, B. Beavans. L. Couch, B. Grove, W. Penrod, and N. Schweikhardt. This year the same boys played on our varsity team in addition to D. Lyons, W. Slusher, and R. Stroup. Last year the boys won 9 out of 18 games. This year they broke their record by winning 14 out of 17 games, so far. We would like to mention the fact that this team has brok- en quite a few records for the school. In 1948, they won the first tournament game in the history of Jackson, they have won a larger percentage of games in one year than any other Jackson team, and they also received our first trophy this year by winning the 4-team tournament at West Rockcreek Our student managers are: John Hoover and Harold Lloyd. 0 Q' ogg?
