Class History In 1953, forty-four boys and girls climbed into a rocket on the launching pad at Jackson Center School. Mrs. Scarberry and Mrs. Turner were at the controls. Those who entered were: Dixie Ammon, Sharon Burch, Sharon Buirley, Bob Burch, Mitch Breece, Janet Clapsaddle, Marilyn Crosley, Jean Elsass, Joan Elesass, Ann Fogt, Jim Fogt, Bill Forsythe, Tom Gies, Sue Grey, Christine Charles, Valerie Herndon, Mar- garet Maxwell, Margaret Hutflies, Marcia King, Marilyn Kossel, Jerold Marvin, Tom Maxwell, Judy Morris, Wanda Pollock, David Ruff, Judy Schaub, Gary Shaffer, Bill Shank, Karen Smith, Grace Taylor, David Wiessienger, Douglas Woodell, Raymond Krueger, Allan Hebb, Richard Duchak, Richard York, Charlotte Aunspaw, Bob Baugh- man, Marlene Coleman, Marvin Cron, Betty Foote, Gary Gerkey, Reda Gross, and Bob McName. As we reached our second plateau, we stopped to refuel. Mrs. Bottoms and Mrs. Parker took over the controls. Mary Beireis, Barbara Gierhart, Beverley Swartz, Chris Halpin, Page McAtanmey, Larry Metz, Susan Musser, and Joe Young joined us at this spot. Landing on the third plateau, Mrs. Bottoms stayed as captain and Mrs. Fogt joined us as co-captain. At this landing we were joined by Warren Sprague, Janis Gibbs, Judy Gibbs, and Carol Reineke. On our fourth journey, Mrs. Stewart was at the controls and Jim Shroyer, Sam Wi- ford, Ralph Lump, and Joe Young decided to join us. Gliding in again for fuel, we saw Mrs. Heintz and Mrs. McGooan coming into the rocket to take over. We were joined by Joan Nichols. This year we were presented with a new rocket as we advanced to a new building. Zooming along with Mrs. Sprague at the controls we dipped to take on four new passengers. They were: Sherrell Mattox, Leoma McKee, Bob Clemens, and a fellow passenger who liked our adventures so much, Warren Sprague, decided to rejoin us. As our rocket sat down on plateau seven, Mr. Horvath took charge. Space travel- ers joining us were: Judy McGibbon and Gary Michaud. Landing on plateau eight we picked up Richard Hinkle and John Phyillaire and resumed our journey with Mr. Fisher directing our travels. Members of this year ' s Junior High basketball team were Gary Gerkey, Sam Wiford, Gary Michaud, Chris Halpin, and Tom Gies. The cheerleaders were Dixie Ammon, Jean Elsass, and Karen Smith. At last on plateau nine our goal was shining brightly Mr. Helmlinger was our in- structor. Vikki Rayburn, Alvin Rostorfer, and Harold Butler joined us this year.

Tom Gies wills his ability to make it through High School to his sister, Janice. Larry Metz wills his ability to be Mr. Thorpe ' s lawyer to Larry Hudson. Tom Maxwell wills his ability to be drum major of the High School Band to Jerry Hudson. Bob Burch wills his ability to own his first car in his Junior year to his brother, Gary. Warren Sprague Jr. wills his pool playing ability to anyone who will accept it. Bob Baughman wills his ability to eat pizza that has been burnt to Gloria Ammon. Gary Shaffer wills his height to all Junior boys. Bud Rostorfer wills his ability to run track during the Junior year to Jim Snider. Bill Forsyth wills his ability to keep a slim figure to Jim Snider. Gary Gerkey wills his shyness to Debbie Morris. Harold Butler wills his ability to get in trouble in study hall to Bob Lymes. Jim Fogt wills his ability to read notes to Mr. Locker. Beverly Swartz, Marcia King Class Poem This the year that we ' ll hold dear, Remembering it with love and tears. To graduate has been our goal, From first grade onward - our chief goal. To gain this end, we ' ve aimed true, Ever seeking to improve. Moving forward, class by class, Sharing equally, lad and lass. Plans and dreams were all a part, Of the hopes within our hearts, Of Caps and- Gowns we all would wear, When diploma -time was here. Those on the Reserve basketball team were Sam Wiford, Larry Metz, Gary Gerkey, and Tom Gies. Joan Nichols was our homecoming attendant, escorted by Larry Metz. Arriving on plateau ten, Mr. Smith waited our arrival. Tom Gies was on the Varsity team this year and Sam Wiford, Gary Gerkey, and Larry Metz on the Re- serves. Dixie Ammon was a Reserve cheerleader. This year we planned the Home- coming which was a great success. Marlene Coleman was our Homecoming attend- ant, escorted by Tom Gies. Mr. Gross took over our space program on plateau eleven. Tom Gies, Gary Gerkey, and Larry Metz were on the Varsity with Gary Shaffer on the Reserve. The cheerleaders were Sharon Buirley, Karen Smith, and Dixie Ammon. This was the year our team was state runners-up. We were very proud and feel that our boys con- tributed to this accomplishment. We received our class rings this year and we all liked them very much. We published the yearbook with Leoma McKee as editor and Gary Gerkey as co-editor. Our theme for the prom was Rhapsody in Moonlight. We feel that it was a great success. Our Junior play was entitled Too Sweet for Sixteen. Leoma McKee was our Homecoming attendant, escorted by Jim Fogt. At last we landed on plateau twelve, our Senior year. Mr. Holt has finished our space program for us. The boys on the basketball team were Tom Gies, Gary Gerkey, Gary Shaffer, and Larry Metz. The Varsity cheerleaders were Dixie Ammon, and Sharon Buirley. The Reserves were Carol Reineke and Karen Smith. Our magazine sales were a great success. Our Senior year was completed by the class play, Home- coming, prom, graduation, and the class trip. Those who journeyed twelve years together were: Karen Smith, Bob Baughman, Margaret Maxwell, Dixie Ammon, Sharon Buirley, Bob Burch, Marlene Coleman, Marilyn Crosley, Jean Elsass, Joan Elesass, Ann Fogt, Jim Fogt, Betty Foote, Bill Forsythe, Gary Gerkey, Tom Gies, Valerie Herndon, Marcia King, Marilyn Kossel, Tom Maxwell, Judy Schaub, Gary Shaffer, Bill Shank, and Grace Taylor.
