He was Co-Editors Ethan Keyes-Alfonzo Hilliard We, the advisors and graduating class of 1967, take great pleasure in presenting to you the ’67 Warrior. Through this yearbook, we hope to portray the people at J. T. Barber, what each was like, and the role that each played. The theme, “We Have Finished To Begin,” isdedi- cated to the 1967 graduating class. We have truly worked hard through these years, faithfully and anx¬ iously waiting for our chance to march down the aisles of the Barber Auditorium. After graduation, each of us shall begin new lives. There are varied fields of endeavor into which we might enter. Whether we further our education at higher institutions, or focus our attention on other phases of life, we can truly say, This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. It is rather the end of the beginning.” IfareUnirti Inflections ®f (liihJctrh A 1 :: ■ nm - 1 i 11 .1 III ® 1 : ■ 111 111B j Jl ' l, . 11 I ' M 5 11 I ' M Hk i IF - m m- 1 ©ur Amunplishments lEimitless Jiuture Armmh (the i$enh. They, as strong and healthy leaders of today, make it possible for us to develop in mind and body into spiritual human beings. The advisors of J. T. Barber’s 1967 senior class have all the qualities of leadership for which we are all proud. Each contributed his ideas and hard work as a means of getting what had to be done, done in time. Each had different perspectives of life which often eliminated anger and provided understanding. athm MRS. ELIZABETH S. MOORE MRS. ROSE M. T. Barber can take pride. Through long and hard hours of practice, nights of little sleep and honest, hard games, they have obtained their glory. Memories of their deeds will live in the minds of Warrior stu¬ dents through the years. We look to you, the 1967 squad, in hopes that your accomplishments will inspire others to reach for perfection in whatever acts they might perform. (lamfmnm ' (Liuirh (Of (The IJtw W ithout an able coach, the achievements of the Warrior football team could not have become realities. To Mr. Simon E. Coates, who spent many hours of long, tedious work with the boys of this year ' s team, we extend our appreciation for his efforts. We, the student body, along with the ' 67 squad, congratulate him in being named Con¬ ference Coach of the Year. (Lhcunptmts 4i $ v K Among those outstanding players of the Warrior squad are half-backs Daniel Dixon and Alfonzo Hilliard, and quarterback Curtis Nelson. Doing their part to make the Warriors victorious were ends Albert Spruill and Torian Wil¬ liams. Both of these fine ends have snagged a number of touch¬ down and long yardage passes to help put the W arriors ahead of their foes. Spruill ' s perform¬ ance has won him All-State honors and Williams has won Honorable Mention. r ©ur lEeahmg Here are some of the Warriors players with their hard earned Eastern 4-A Championship Trophy. Daniel Dixon, Coach Coates and Torian Williams accept the State and Eastern 4-A These human bulldozers have opened the passageway to paydirt for Barber’s running backs time and time again Through their determined efforts, our backs have been able to gain valuable yardage. For his display of grid¬ iron skill Gerald Williams has been named to the All-East Team. Richard Lewis was valuable in both the of¬ fensive and defensive phases of the game. Linster Simmons has received All-East and All-State Honors, and James Harrell was a member of our own Fearsome Four. :5 cnuir planer Championship Tro¬ phies at a banquet held in honor of the 1967 Barber football team These boys had the job of stopping their foes on the ground and in the air. Their work of analyzing enemy plays and breaking them up was well carried out. The service that these boys gave will be greatly missed in the future squad. No one is perfect but Johnny Thomas and Richard Carter put all they had into doing their jobs right. These boys were valuable in the defensive game for the Warriors.
