J. T. Barber School is gaining prestige in North Carolina for its outstanding performance in sports, scholarship and music. It has achieved honors on the local, regional and state levels. In the sports field, it has produced such out¬ standing professional par¬ ticipants as Walter Bellamy ' 57 , elected 44 Rookie of the Year 99 in the N.B.A.; Aaron Martin, outstanding player for the Los Angeles Rams, John Pearsall, professional boxer. We are proud of the Academic records of many of our graduates. Russell Gould is an assistant teacher of Chemistry at the Uni¬ versity of Long Island in Brooklyn, and William Gavins is a computor at the U.S. Naval Weapons Laboratory, Dahlgren, Vir¬ ginia. In the fine arts, Cleopatra Har gett, former soloist at Livingstone College, is cur¬ rently teaching in the Ra- liegh City system, and Vivians Adams Huggins, is band instructor in South

Fulton High School, At¬ lanta, Georgia. The students at Barber are justly proud of their achievements and honors awarded them and their school. From earliest times ring adornment of the human race had been universal. There have been rings to indicate wealth, wisdom, love, rank and medical power just to name a few. Rings may be plain, en¬ graved and decorated, or set with stones. J. T. Bar¬ ber s rings, an original de¬ sign, is of burnt gold cen¬ tered with a large synthetic ruby stone flanked on the right by Minerva, the god¬ dess of Wisdom, Science and the arts, and on the left by a mighty Warrior, representing Valor, which signifies courage, audacity, and dauntlessness. We, the students of J. T. Barber High School, deem it an honor to be recipients of this ring and consider the ideas for which it stands keys for a successful life.
