Hancock, Walter Jones, Harry Wright. SUPERINTENDENT Mr. Harry J. MacDonald has seen many students graduate from J. T. Barber High during his years of effective service. He majored in Zoology and Education; received the Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degrees from Duke University. Mr. Mac¬ Donald became Superintendent of the New Bern City Schools in 1947 and has devoted himself to the betterment of the school system. Along with the Board of Educa¬ tion, the New Bern City Schools have taken steps forward to meet the demands of the present and future. IS

He ' s a graduate of Paine College with a Bachelor of Arts in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He received his Master of Arts degree from Atlanta University and has done further study at N. C. 7 e Student ( unect A student body of several hundreds requires organization to represent it and discuss its opinions and ideas. Such is the purpose of the Student Council of J. T. Barber High. The representatives do not rule the student body but consider its desires and needs. The Student Council has many projects, such as providing the planning of assembly programs and other projects. The Student Council is a respected part of the school and it strives to the utmost to act with fairness.
