Mrs. Dorothea Jenkins, we, the members of the Senior Class of 1956, are grateful to you for your enterprising spirit in helping us make this annual an exquisite one. As our advisor of the Annual Staff for the past four years, you have aided many students to develop their hidden talents. For this reason, we are thankful to know that by the portrayal of these talents our books have been recognized as models for many schools. Therefore, as our advisor, scholar and loyal friend, we dedicate this book in your honor.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 1956. These congratulations are in order because you can be considered as pioneers by reason of the fact that you represent the first graduates of the J. T. Barber High School. Also, many of you were among the first pupils to enjoy the facilities of this building when its doors were first opened in September 1951. To those of you who have participated in the writing of the first chapter, of what is hoped to be a long and illustrious history of the J. T. Barber High School, we pass on to you the challenge to excel all who have preceded you in the various walks of life. As you enter upon the threshold of adult life, you can recognize unprecedented opportunities in the foreground. All of us are depending upon you to capitalize on them and continue to contribute admirably to contemporary history as you take your place as citizens of your respective communities. W. M.
