We, the senior class of West Street High School, 1955, are about to pass from these halls of learning. Being in full possession of our mental capacities and without restraint, we do hereby make and publish this our last will and testament. We transmit our various school day possessions to persons hereafter mentioned to be retained by them throughout their association with West Street High School. To the entire faculty of West Street High School, we leave many thanks for preparing us for our roles as future citizens. To the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen, we bequeath the use of the new school, J. T. Barber, which we were fortunate to see erected. Amos Dunson wills his acting ability to his cousin, George. Nathaniel Harvey wills his position on the football team to Albert Pollock. Isaiah Grice wills his football shoes to George Carter. Eliza Bell wills her school books to Lucy Matthews. Hattie Mae Kornegay wills her dignity and her seat in the senior class to her brothers, Allen and Edward. I, Ruby Slade, leave to Betty Sykes my position in the Glee Club; to Virginia Ann Richardson my vivacious personality; and to my brother, Al Daniels, my scholastic record. Vera Richardson wills to her sister, Virginia, her pleasing personality; and to Jessie Chapman, her intellectuality. Vander Allen leaves his intelligence to Bobby Conrad, and his hair to William Dixon. Carolyn Gillis wills her seat in the senior class to Janis Guion; and her personality to her uncle, Calvin Simmons, and her cousin, Toni Baucom. Mary Devone wills her seat in chemistry to a friend, Sadie Lovick; her personality to her cousin, Alice Murphy; and her smile to her nephew, James Lovick. Mary Alexander wills her excellent class behavior to her brother, Rudolph. Annie Jarmond leaves her quietness to her sister, Alice; and her seat in the senior class to her uncle, William Boone. Nell Brown leaves to her sister, Alfreda, her personality, and her seat in chemistry to anyone who can master it. Joseph Williams wills his reasoning power, knowledge of parliamentary procedures and ability to get along with pretty girls to Billy Chadwick. Ellen Daniels wills her sholastic ability to her cousin, Eula Bryant and her seat in French II to anyone who likes to sit by the radiator. Isaac Roberson, Jr. wishes to leave Bill Nelson fifty pounds of weight. I, Edna Vines, bequeath my scholastic record to Ellen Pugh and my membership in the Crown and Scepter Club to Mary Rhodes. Jean Williams wills a seat in the French class to Janet White. Beaulah Sanders wills her seat in the English class to her brother, Theodore; her seat in Home Economics to her sister, Ivory; her dreamy eyes to Annie Bell; and her seat in Speech class to James Simmons. Plump Hill wills her pleasing personality and her ability to get along with others to her cousins, Eliza Sutton, Learly and James Hill. Gwendolyn Gavin wills her position in the Crown and Scepter Club to her brother, William, and in the Tri-Hi-Y to her sister, Ruth. Helen Brown wills her personality to Bobby Conrad.
