The team was strong in the sprints and field events, but was weak in distance, remarked Coach Gordon Husse. Special achievers were Steve Piha, who qualified for state finals: Chris Klausler. the team's most valuable plaverg and Ken Visk, most improved member of the team. Although the '78 track team was above average, next year's team shows even more promise as a district leader. Since the team primarily consisted of juniors, most of the best runners plan to return for another season. The frosh-soph team did well in competition. They learned what the meaning of teamwork was and liked it. Commented team member Jim Pierucc' ni, We all worked hard, but to be a team you all have to help out. The track team showed a good capability for winning in the years to come. 1978 VARSITY TRACK M.W. OPP.
