Although many ot' its memhers were young. the girls' swim team splashed to a great year. l didn't expect the season to turn out as well as it did. 'llhe team far exceeded my early expectations, and l am thoroughly surprised with their acctwmplishmentsf' commented Girls' Swimming Voach ,lim XYill. These accomplishments included nineteen hroken records in ten ditlerent events. Gail Rawers, an outstanding varsity swimmer, hroke six school records. Jean Hajer. Karen Krev. Nancy Granitz, and l.ynn Benes hroke the school's 200 medley relay record while Rawers, Henes. Hajer. and Gail l.-iungherg hroke the 400 freestyle record. Sophomore Donna Felsecker hroke a record in diving and also qualified for state competition. 'l'wo freshman, Donna l'lucienik and Leslie Larson, competed on the varsity level. 'l'he excellent performance ot' the team as a whole resulted in a second place in dual meet competition and a third place in the league standings.
