West's points of view make TALON new Talon is funny. It's very good one year, and terrible the next. Normally a comment like that of Dave Slivinski would never make it to the pages of the yearbook, but this year the Talon did things differently. Armed with determination and the theme Points of View, editors and staffers bombarded the school with questionnaires. We tried to get as wide a range of opinions as possible, explained Kathy Peters. That's the only way to get a realistic picture of the year. Student quotes appeared throughout the book, and many of the comments formed the basis for copy blocks. V Talon editors took an active part in yearbook workshops at Iowa State University, the University of Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. Said Academics Editor Laurel Smith concerning the, ISU workshop, I learned how to pick interesting pictures and write about contempory topics. Among the honors awarded to the 1978 edition of the Talon were Columbia Scholastic's Medalist rating and first-in-class ratings from the Kettle Moraine Press. I lj Conferring on a layout planned for the book, Assistant Editor-in-Chief Gail Albers and Talon Adviser Mr. Robert I-Iegner make the necessary adjustments. 21 Assured that her layout is properly drawn, Student Life Editor Alice Jezek recopies it onto a triplicate form. 31 Taking a break at a workshop in Whi- tewater, Wisconsin, Gail Albers and Kathy Peters review the day's classes.
