, f 1 ll, X I Thespians confront disaster 'Forensics gives students a chance to compete and learn about speaking, stated Jeff Kostel. Members of the forensics team found that there was more to speaking than met the ear. Specializing in humor- ous and dramatic interpretation, interpretation of original material, and radio speaking, they performed alone and in groups. The forensics team competed in district, sectional, and state meets. Lisa Wolf comment- ed, The competition is great exper- ience, and I love public speaking. Thespians, the Theatre Depart- ment's honor society, consisted of a group of exceptionally talented young performers who held leading roles in past productions. One of their most I as 7 N unusual performances was given during MacNeal Memorial Hospital's disaster drill. During the drill, an exercise in emergency procedures, thespians played the roles of seriously injured victims as emergency crews treated them. The members of the Tech Guild, a dedicated group of people, stood behind the scenes at a number of school activities. Their purpose, as stated by Patty Johnson, was to take care of all the technical aspects of theatre and to make sure we have quality in our craft. Besides back- stage work for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Tech Guild provided lighting for assemblies, choral concerts, and other school functions. . NWN ' THESPIANSQFRONT ROW: S. Schnulle, Pres.: S. Photo Club focuses on students' activities 'I' He' ' 2 3 Those blinding flashes that burst out at homecoming and other school activities came courtesy of the Photo Plub. Members took pictures that were later displayed in downstairs D-hall and sold to the student body. The money raised by selling bits of Circus Magic and other memories went toward the development of better lab facilities. Egg shows that there is still talent left at Morton and that people are interested in reading literary works that are written by their classmates, said Jasmina Savic. At its annual banquet, the Egg honored writers and members who showed special effort during the year. Having already won the National Scholastic l'ress's All-American rating twice, the Egg staff felt confident in publishing its fourth edition. An increase in membership prompted by the current dance craze made Modern Dance Club a more active organization. The club took trips to see famous dancers such as Dennis Wayne and Alvin Sley. You feel better when you leave, like you've really accomplished something! said Dancer Deanna Ceci. li Exercising to the beat of the music, Becky Kojs builds the flexible muscles required in modern dance. 23 Covering homecoming and other student activities to raise money for their club, John Esposito, Tony Lewandowski, Barry Kelpsas, and Bill Thorpe capture the excitement of a pep assembly. 35 Using the filing system of the Egg Mrs. Pat Geiser and Mary Vrchota organize submitted copy.
