Blubs honor athletic abilities by admission T dow 4 SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT - The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat is a much-used but adequate summation of the exper- iences of Morton's many athletes. Although not required to participate, students took on the added practice, pressure, and endurance to make a name for themselves and for their school. This undertaking didn't go unrewarded, however, for many students earned awards plus respect from their teammates and friends because of their athletic abilities. One such distinction awarded to outstanding athletes was admission into the M-Club or Varsity Club. M-Club members promoted ath- letic interest by sponsoring a 'rec night' consisting of an open pool and free-play basketball and volleyball. The annual M-Club versus- faculty basketball game gave students the chance to root for their favorite players and teachers. Although the faculty trounced M-Club, all agreed it was a fun-filled game. The Girls' Varsity Club honored our gridmen by hosting a football banquet and also provided the baked goods at swim and basketball meets. lb Searching for an opening in the faculty defense, Mike Willett prepares a pass during the M-Club-faculty basketball game. 25 Exhausted after a grueling race, All-State Champion Lou Kammerer checks the clock for his time. 35 The strength required to get up proves to be unattainable for Greg Krucek after a trying session at the high jump bar. -U After teaming for the game-winning touch- n, Keith Borzym and Don Dunne rejoice.
