Council sets the pace for student activities -. I feel that a student council is an important aspect of any school, stated Ms. Katherine Flaherty, adviser of the student activity. I think that the purpose of Student Council should be to represent the whole school body. It's an organiza- tion that should make the students aware of the school's activity and provide school spirit. Student Council was one of the main forces behind many special school activities. Halloween was one source of student participation engineered by the Student Council. Halloween Dress- Up Day provided students with many humorous sights as costumed friends and teachers made this varied school day memorable. Besides sponsoring dances, playnights, and the annual Battle of the Bands, Student Council contributed holiday cheer at Christ- mas time by giving gifts by drawing lucky seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. Faculty members were not overlooked and received giant candy canes in daily drawings. Students sporting the best Christmas costumes and the best decorated lockers also received prizes. lj In a whimsical tribute to the football teams, Debbie Martinek, Debbie Denhard, and Diana Jaworek entertain at coronation. 25 Flash- ing a Halloween message, Joann Marciszews- ki participates in the MWSC's Halloween dressup. 35 Council Members Mary Vrchota and Doreen Preber view the gifts to be awarded to students as the council's gesture of Christmas spirit. 45 Bob Stackley portrays Steve Martin at the Christmas assembly.
