Dr. Hutchison Organizes Student, Stff Program Dr. W. Hutchison took the task of coor- dinating the year's activities for students, faculty, and staff. He also worked with the director of public relations, Mr. R. J. Tudor, and the division heads to obtain educational programs suited to the students' needs. Dr. Hutchison stated, My main goal is to provide leadership for new directions we should move in. One major difficulty is maintaining a level of in- struction in spite of inflation. Morton's courses were studied for possible changes and additions by the Educational Council, headed by Dr. H. I. Below. She was also responsible for developing goals and objec- tives throughout the curriculum. l Dr. H. Below Qabove, leftl discusses the possible addition of a proposed class to the English program with one of the teachers. ' Dr. W. Hutchison and Mr. P. Morton's Deans Initiate New Tardiness Program This year, the deans adopted a new policy on tardiness and truancy. They dropped the system of detentions because they felt it wasn't accomplishing their main goals. The new policy gives more responsibility to the student and his parents. It differs from the old system in that the student is warned that the sixth time that he is tardy for a class, he will be suspended and a conference with his parents will be necessary. The fourth time a student is truant, he will drop the course with a failing grade. The deans com- mented, We are trying to prepare the students for adult life.
